We had two and a half action packed weeks in Vietnam.  We knew we couldn’t cover everything in that time so we planned a North South route from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh via Hue and Hoi An.  Then we made our way through the Mekong Delta into our next destination Cambodia.

Yes Vietnam is busy, the traffic is frantic, out of this world crazy and it doesn’t stop.  The food is good if you know where to look and what to order.  If you are a beginner and you aren’t travel savvy then you’ll probably be scammed in some way, if you are experienced you might still be scammed or at the very least overpay at some point.

The people can take a bit of getting to know.  There is a lot of history to take in. It isn’t always comfortable to read, see or think about the Vietnam War and its long term effects.  But if you do take the time you’ll start to ‘get’ Vietnam, it’s people and how it has come to be the country it is know.

After some time in Vietnam you might feel like you need a holiday to recover from the frantic pace.  But then you’ll probably start planning your next trip.
